When solving by elimination you must “eliminate” one of the variables (hence the name)
1. put one equation on top of the other, and you are going to be adding the equations together
The x’s will eliminate when you add them, because -x+x=0
now you must add together the y’s, as well as the numbers on the other side of the equal sign.
3. solve for “y”
4. plug the y value you get into either of the original equations, “x+2y=6” or “-x-3y=-7”
It doesn’t matter which one you use!
