The value of y in the figure is 163°

Opposite angles are a special type of angle formed when two lines intersect creating four angles . They are also sometimes called vertical angles or vertically opposite angles.

Each pair of opposite angles is formed by non-adjacent angles.Opposite angles are always congruent. Hence, they have the same measure .

z° = x° (opposite angles)

y = 163° (opposite angles)

Hence, y = 163°
