The value of BD, obtained using the segment addition postulate is 6.6 units

The steps used to find the value of BD are as follows;

The dimensions in the diagram are;

EB = 7.4, CD = 3.3, and ED = 7.4

The triangles ΔEBC and ΔEDC are right triangles by the definition of right triangles, we get;

EC ≅ EC (Reflexive property of congruence)

ΔEBC ≅ ΔEDC (Hypotenuse Leg, LH congruence rule)

CD ≅ BC (Corresponding Parts pf Congruent Triangles are congruent)

CD = BC

BC = 3.3

BD = CD + BD (Segment addition postulate)

BD = 3.3 + 3.3

BD = 6.6
