During New Imperialism, agriculture changed through the increased product of cash crops rather than food crops worldwide. Colonial regions were tasked with growing vast amounts of cotton, rubber, and tobacco. The industrialization of agriculture in Europe led to a food abundance in those countries so imperial forces could focus on having the colonies produce other agricultural products.
