Using the Pythagorean theorem we can see that x = 33.3

How to find the value of x?

We can decompose the figure into two simpler ones, a rectangle of 7 by 25 units, and a triangle that has:

  • A cathetus of 25 units.
  • A cathetus of 29 - 7 = 22 units.
  • An hypotenuse of x.

The pythagorean theorem tells us that the sum of the squares of the catheti is equal to the square of the hypotenuse, then we can write:

25² + 22² = x²

Solving for x:

x = √(25² + 22²)

x = 33.3
