So the vertex is (0,3)

The zeros of a function are where the function touches the x-axis, or when y is 0.

We can find the zeros by making y (or f(x)) 0.

(x+4)^2-9=0

x^2+8x+16-9=0

x^2+8x+7=0

Factoring

(x+1)(x+7)=0

The zeroes are at -1 and -7.
