The equation for the line of best fit is y = 8.94x + 67.1

What is the equation for the line of best fit?

At point 1:

Age: 2

Median: 84.98

At point 2:

Age: 3

Median: 93.92

Slope, m = (Change in median) / (change in age)

= (93.92 - 84.98) / (3 - 2)

= 8.94/1

m = 8.94

The equation:

y = mx + b

84.98 = 8.94(2) + b

84.98 = 17.88 + b

b = 84.98 - 17.88

b = 67.1

Therefore,

y = 8.94x + 67.1
