The value of x is 43 degrees

To determine the value of the variable, we need to take note of the following;

  • Supplementary angles are pair of angles that sum up to 180 degrees
  • Complementary angles are pair of angles that sum up to 90 degrees
  • Alternating angles are equal
  • Corresponding angles are equal
  • Angles on a straight line is 180 degrees
  • Angle at right-angle is 90 degrees

From the diagram, we have that;

137 + y = 180

collect the like terms

y = 180 - 137

subtract the values

y = 43 degrees

But y and x are alternating

Thus, x = 43 degrees
