The slope of the lines are, respectively: Case 1: 6 (Correct choice: B), Case 2: - 4 (Correct choice: G), Case 3: 0 (Correct choice: I), Case 4: Undefined (Correct choice: A).

How to find the slope of a line

In this problem we have four cases of lines, whose slopes must be determined. There are some hints:

  1. If line is horizontal, slope is equal to zero.
  2. If line is vertical, slope is undefined.

When line is oblique, the slope can be found by secant line formula:

m = (\Delta y)/(\Delta x)

Where:

  • Δx - Change in x.
  • Δy - Change in y.

Case 1: By secant line formula:

m = (9 - (- 9))/(2 - (- 1))

m = 6

Case 2: By secant line formula:

m = (- 7 - 5)/(2 - (- 1))

m = - 4

Case 3: The slope of the horizontal line is:

m = 0

Case 4: Slope is undefined.
