It isnt dirk for sure and Cranicks death couldn't relate to freedom. Or so, it could be her white gloves but white gloves does symbolize freedom ONLY BECAUSE OF THE WHITE COLOR but in Chapter 1 of "The True Confessions Of Charlotte" it says that the white gloves were suppose to signify a young smart kind woman, so if it represents that it cant represents 2 different things. So im 100% sure that its her wild hair.
