Given that, descent rate is constant ;

Elevation after 2 days = 106 m

Elevation after 6 days = 48 m

Let

Rate of elevation per day= x

Initial elevation = a

Hence,

a - 2x = 106 - - - (1)

a - 6x = 48 ___(2)

-2x + 6x = 106 - 48

4x = 58

x = 58/4

x = 14.5 meters per day

Hence, initial elevation :

a - 2(14.5) = 106

a - 29 = 106

a = 106 + 29

a = 135
