Storytime: This is a true story about a man named Hisashi Ouchi, or better known as "The Ouchi Man." He was one of three employees of the Tokaimura nuclear plant to be heavily impacted by the accident on 30 September 1999. He suffered a huge tragedy. Outside of major nuclear events such as the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and the meltdowns of nuclear facilities such as nuclear power plants, the effect of radiation on humans could not be tested. As such, after the 1999 Tokaimura nuclear accident, many scientists jumped at the opportunity to study the victims of such a high amount of exposure to radiation. Out of all the victims of the disaster, the case of Hisashi Ouchi stands out.

Based on the provided text, which of the following statements is true?

A. Hisashi Ouchi was unaffected by the radiation exposure.
B. The 1999 Tokaimura nuclear accident had no impact on radiation research.
C. Hisashi Ouchi received a deadly level of radiation exposure.

Final answer:

The true statement is that Hisashi Ouchi received a deadly level of radiation exposure during the 1999 Tokaimura nuclear accident.

Step-by-step explanation:

Based on the provided text about the true story of Hisashi Ouchi, it is clear that the correct statement is C. Hisashi Ouchi received a deadly level of radiation exposure. Ouchi was one of the victims of the 1999 Tokaimura nuclear accident, which had a significant impact on him and contributed to radiation research as scientists had the chance to study the effects of such a high dose of radiation on humans. The accident at the Tokaimura nuclear plant did not end with the successful control by the employees of the chemical mixture, which led to a criticality accident, exposing those present to high levels of radiation.
