Sophia and Nolan already had 20 shells in their shell collection. Then they went to the beach

to collect even more. Sophia found 8 limpet shells, 2 oyster shells, and 6 conch shells. Nolan
found 2 more shells than Sophia did. How many shells do the pair have all together?

Final answer:

To find the total number of shells Sophia and Nolan have together, add up the number of shells each of them found and combine the results.

Step-by-step explanation:

To find the total number of shells Sophia and Nolan have together, we need to add up the number of shells each of them found.

Sophia found 8 limpet shells, 2 oyster shells, and 6 conch shells, which is a total of 8 + 2 + 6 = 16 shells.

Nolan found 2 more shells than Sophia did, so he found 16 + 2 = 18 shells.

To find the total number of shells the pair has all together, we add Sophia's shells to Nolan's shells: 16 + 18 = 34 shells.
