The value of the expression |x-1| if x>1 without using absolute value notation is x-1.

The Absolute value of any number may be defined as the distance of the given number on a number line from the point of origin. The absolute value of any number x is given by |x|. The absolute value of any number will always give a positive value regardless of the sign of the number.

For example, the absolute value of |-2| is given by 2 and the absolute value of |2| is also given by 2. Here, in the question it is given that x>1.

=> x>1

=> x-1>0

Thus, if x-1>0 then the absolute value of the expression |x-1| is given by x-1 as x-1>0.

Question:

Rewrite each expression without using absolute value notation.

|x−1| if x > 1
