Chris is designing a quilt by experimenting with geometric transformations. Chris

started with the hexagonal piece of fabric shown in Quadrant ll of the coordinate plane
below. After two transformations of the hexagon H, the image H' of the shape was at
the location shown by the outline in the grid.

The hexagonal piece of fabric has undergone a translation and rotation to become H'.

To determine the geometric transformations applied to the hexagonal piece of fabric, we can analyze the changes in its position and shape.

From Quadrant ll, the image H' of the hexagon is shown by the outline in the grid. Two transformations seem to have occurred:

Translation: The hexagon has been shifted 3 units to the right and 4 units upwards.

Rotation: The hexagon has been rotated 120 degrees clockwise or 240 degrees counterclockwise.

By combining translation and rotation, the original hexagon was transformed into H'.
