Answer:

1(7)/(15) of water and vegetable oil in total.

Explanation:

first let's find the problem we need to solve. we are given 2/3 cup of vegetable oil & 4/5 cup of water as our numbers. so let's make this into a solution :

  • (2)/(3) + (4)/(5) = ?

in order to correctly add this fraction, we must make sure the denominator is the same for both fractions.

we can multiply our 1st fraction with 5, as the 2nd fraction with 3 in order to get the common denominator.

  • (2x5)/(3x5) +(4x3)/(5x3) =
(10)/(15) +(12)/(15) (notice how our denominators, the bottom numbers, are equal!!)

now we can simply add across !

  • (10)/(15)+ (12)/(15)= (22)/(15) = 1(7)/(15) , this is our finished answer ! hope i helped :)
