MRI report. (Impression - 9 words) (
Findings - 4 words).
10 pts
Impression: 10 cm long area of marrow edema and anterior periosteal edema in the mid tibial shaft is nonspecific in appearance. A developing stress fracture is a possibility although no discrete fracture line is visualized. There is an intramedullary blood vessel coursing through the area of marrow edema raising the possibility of vasculitis or acute bone infarction.
Osteomyelitis from a hematogenous source is unlikely but can not be excluded. Radiographic follow up is recommended.
Findings: There is a 10 cm long area of marrow edema in the mid left tibial shaft. There is no cortical erosion or mass effect. There is a mid periosteal edema at the anteromedial margin of the tibial shaft. No fracture line is identified. An intermedullary blood vessel is seen to enter the posterior tibial shaft through a nutrient channel.

Final answer:

The medical terms in the MRI report include marrow edema, periosteal edema, stress fracture, vasculitis, bone infarction, osteomyelitis, hematogenous, radiographic follow up, cortical erosion, and mass effect.

Step-by-step explanation:

In this MRI report, there are several medical terms:

  1. Marrow edema: swelling in the bone marrow
  2. Periosteal edema: swelling in the outer layer of bone
  3. Stress fracture: a small crack in the bone caused by repetitive force or overuse
  4. Vasculitis: inflammation of the blood vessels
  5. Bone infarction: death of bone tissue due to loss of blood supply
  6. Osteomyelitis: infection in the bone
  7. Hematogenous: originating from blood
  8. Radiographic follow up: further imaging tests or exams
  9. Cortical erosion: loss of the outer layer of bone
  10. Mass effect: presence of a tumor or growth
