A) f(x) = 0 at x = 1
B) f(0) = 2
C) The increasing interval is [-4, 1] and [2, 3]
D) The y intercept is 1
E) The average rate of change is -5
How to find the values
To solve the problems, let us remember that x is input values and f(x) = y is the output values
A) In this case, we are asked what input value/(x) is required to have an output equal to 0. Hence we look through the column of f(x) and search for 0. At this point, we check the corresponding value of x which is 1
B) Here, we search for x = 0 and find the corresponding value for g(x) which is 2
C) WE investigate the column to ascertain when f(x) is increasing. Increase is noticed from 0 to 30, and 0 to 2. The corresponding values of x at this point is 1 to -4 and 2 to 3. This is written as [-4, 1] and [2, 3]
D) The y intercept is the values of f(x) when x = 0. This is same as in B so the value is 2
E) Average rate of change is calculated by
= change in y) / change in x
= (20 - 0) / (-3 - 1)
= 20 / -4
= -5
