He failed to respond to the necessities of his own citizens which led many to resent him. At this time as well France was in an economic crisis and King Louis was incapable of doing something to help France out of debt which also angered the people as they were literally starving to death on the streets. The citizens finally had enough and revolted for change. This ended with King Louis and his wife Marie Antoinette getting beheaded by their own citizens
