First you need to find the discount amount. You do this by changing 15% into a decimal.

So,

15/100 = 0.15

Then we multiply,

0.15x12.33 = 1.8495 Or $1.85

Since there was a 15% discount, we have to subtract 12.33 by 1.85.

So,

12.33-1.85 = 10.48

If there is a 4.5% tax, we'll change 4.5% into a decimal.

So,

4.5/100 = 0.045

Then we multiply by the new amount,

0.045x10.48 = 0.4716

Now we have to add because it is a 4.5% tax.

So,

10.48+0.4716 = $10.95

Therefore, the new total cost was $10.95.
