x+3y=1 ---------------- (1)

−3x−3y=−15 -------------(2)

Solve Equation (1) for x

x=1−3y

Substitute x=1−3y in equation (2)

−3(1−3y)−3y=−15

−3+9y−3y=−15

−3+6y=−15

6y=−15+3=−12

y=−12/6=−2

y=−2

Substitute y=−2 in equation (1)

x+3(−2)=1

x−6=1

x=1+6=7

x=7
