Answer:

x = - 1 , y = - 2

Explanation:

given the system of equations

- 4x + 3y = - 2 → (1)

4x - 4y = 4 → (2)

adding the equations term by term will eliminate x

(- 4x + 4x) + (3y - 4y) = - 2 + 4

0 - y = 2

- y = 2 ( multiply both sides by - 1 )

y = - 2

substitute y = - 2 into either of the 2 equations and solve for x

substituting into (2)

4x - 4(- 2) = 4

4x + 8 = 4 ( subtract 8 from both sides )

4x = - 4 ( divide both sides by 4 )

x = - 1

The solution is x = - 1 , y = - 2
