The slope-intercept expression for the graph is y = -x + 5

The equation of the line can be expressed in the form ;

  • y = bx + c
  • b = slope ; c = intercept

Taking the pair of points on the graph;

  • (0, 5) and (5, 0)

The slope = Change in y / Change in x

Now we have ;

Slope = (0 - 5) / (5 - 0) = -5/5 = -1

The intercept value can be obtained from the graph; which is the value of y when x = 0

  • Hence, intercept = 5

Now the equation becomes ;

  • y = -x + 5
