Answer:

X = 2

Y = -1

Explanation:

I times two with the first equation.

like so.

2(3x + 2y) = 4 * 2

when you go through the process of distributing 2 and multiplying the 4 you should get this.

6x + 4y = 8

then I added both equations together

6x + 4y = 8

2x - 4y = 8

Wich should equal.

8x = 16

then I divided both sides by 8.

(8x)/(8) = (16)/(8)

equals

x = 2

then I went back to the original equation and tried to solve for Y.

3 * 2 + 2y = 4

3 × 2 is 6

6 + 2y = 4

then subtract both sides by 6.

6 - 6 + 2y = 4 - 6

---------------------------------

since 6 is bigger than 4 and also six is a negative number we will get a negative answer

4 - 6 = - 2

-------------------------------

after once we subtract both sides by 6 this should be the answer.

2y = - 2

now we divide both sides by two.

(2y)/(2) = ( - 2)/(2)

if you divide -2 with 2 it will equal -1.

then the answer should be this.

y = - 1

conclusion:

X = 2

Y = -1

these are the things that I had difficulties with.

I need to make sure to do the same thing to both sides and keep track of negative numbers. this took me some time.

if you want more help you can ask me and I will try to answer your questions.
