Mixed Fractions

A mixed fraction is a type of fraction in which there is a whole number part and a fractional part.

For example, the following number has a whole number part (6) and a fractional part (83/100):

6(83)/(100)

To convert a mixed fraction to a simple fraction (which will result in an improper fraction), we add both parts:

\begin{gathered} 6(83)/(100)=6+(83)/(100) \\ 6(83)/(100)=(600+83)/(100) \\ 6(83)/(100)=(683)/(100) \end{gathered}

Result: 683/100
