Let me solve an example for you.

Given the expression;

(37)/(5)

we want to simplify the expression into quotient and remainder;

37 is not divisible by 5, but 35 is divisible by 5.

And;

37=35+2

So;

\begin{gathered} (37)/(5)=(35+2)/(5) \\ =(35)/(5)+(2)/(5) \\ =7+(2)/(5) \end{gathered}

Therefore;

The quotient is 7

The remainder is 2

The divisor is 5.

I hope that helps.s 7
