We are asked if the number we are given satisfies the given inequality

First one is x >= -6 That is x larger than or equal to -6

So place yourself at the point -6 on the numer line, and see what are the numbers that appear to the RIGHT of -6. All those numbers are larger than -6.

Notice that the number 4 is also on that group.

So the first question should be responded with a YES, 4 is a solution to the given inequality.

Notice in the picture the position of negative six (-6) to the left of zero, and 4 to the right of 0. The green color identifies all the numbers on the real number line that are larger than -6 . We see that 4 is also among those numbers. Therefore 4 IS a solution to the given inequality

Second question tells us that the number "n" is strickly smaller than 8 Noted as: n < 8. And we are asked if the number 11 is a solution of this inequality.

Again, place yourself on the number line. and locte the number 8 eight units to the right of the zero.. you are interested in all the numbers "less than" (<) 8, so we are going to highlight all the numbers to the left of 8 on that line. Notice as well that the option "11" given is NOT in your highlighted region.

So above we highlighted in blue the numbers to the left of 8 (smaller than 8) represented by the n < 8 inequality. Notice that the number 11 (the option given) is NOT in the highlighted region, therefore this number is NOT a solution to the given inequality.
