We know that Shauna walked farther than Todd but not as far as Jin.

We know that Todd walked 12.8, and Jin 12 7/8. Let's expressed Jin's distance as a decimal,

12(7)/(8)=(12\cdot8+7)/(8)=(103)/(8)=12.875

This means (1)Shauna walked around 12.87, which is between Todd's and Jin's distance.

2. Jin's suggestion would be helpful because we have to express all distances in the same form, otherwise, we won't be able to sum because there are mixed numbers, fractions, and decimal numbers. Let's um all distances

12.875+12.6+12.8+12.83+12.87=63.975

So, the total distance would be around 63.975 miles.

3. Mariko's prediction is accurate. He probably predicted the total distance by adding the whole part of each number, which would give 60 as the less number possible.

4. If Shauna walked the same distance as Clyde, the total distance would be

\begin{gathered} 12(7)/(8)+12.6+12(5)/(6)+12(5)/(6)+12.8 \\ 12.875+12.6+12.83+12.83+12.8=63.94 \end{gathered}

So, the total distance would be 63.94 miles, approximately.
