Notice that the number of shoes that were 18 cm or 22cm we have to add the ones that correspond to the girls and those that correspond to the boys, according to the tally table:

6+4+9+7=26.

Now, to find the number of shoes that were 20 cm long, we add:

8+9=17.

To know how many more shoes were 18 and 22 cm long combined than 20 cm long we have to compute the difference between the shoes that were shoes that were 18 or 22 cm long and the 20 cm, the difference is the following subtraction:

26-17=9.

So, 9 more shoes were 18 or 22 cm long than 20 cm long.

Answer:

First sum:

6+4+9+7=26.

Second sum:

8+9=17.

Subtraction:

26-17=9.

So, 9 more shoes were 18 or 22 cm long than 20 cm long.
