The brightness of the bulb is is desibed by the relation with the resistance as in terms of power,


P=(V^2)/(R)

If there is increase in the resistance of passage increases during the current flow to the bulb, the power of the bulb corresponding decreases.

More the power of the bulb more is the brightness.

Thus, brightness of the buld is inversely proportional to the resistance in relation.
