Based on the congruent triangle shown above, the values of x and y include the following;

x = 4°

y = 6°

In Mathematics and Geometry, the sum of the interior angles in a triangle is equal to 180 degrees. This ultimately implies that, we would sum up all of the angles in triangle ABC as follows;

m∠A + m∠B + m∠C =180°

148 + 18 + z = 180

z = 180 - 166

z = 14°

Since the triangles are congruent, we have the following;

5x - y = 14

3x + y = 18

8x = 32

x = 32/8

x = 4°

y = 18 - 3x

y = 18 - 3(4)

y = 6°
