The number of bags that Mr. Perez makes to hold the remaining trail mix is 4.5 bags.

Using fractional multiplication and division, we can work out the number of bags Mr. Perez needs to make as follows:

The total quantity of trail mix that Mr. Perez makes = 7/8 pound

The quantity of the trail mix that Mr. Perez eats suring a hike = 1/2

= 7/16 pound (1/2 x 7/8)

The remaining quantity of the trail mix = 9/16 pound (1 - 7/16)

The quantity that each bag can hold = 2/16 pound

The number of bags that Mr. Perez makes to hold the remaining 9/16 pound of the trail mix = 4.5 bags (9/16 ÷ 2/16).

(9/16 ÷ 2/16) = (9/16 x 16/2) = 4.5

Thus, the remaining trail mix will be put into 4.5 bags.
