Solution:

Given that Mrs. Kwan will teach 8 workshops next week, and each workshop is 2 hours long, this imlies that

\begin{gathered} \text{Total number of hours spent on all workshops = 8}*2 \\ =\text{ 16 hours.} \end{gathered}

If she tries to tell a joke every 1/3 hour, this implies that for 1 hour let the number of joke she tells be reprsented by x.

Thus,

\begin{gathered} 1\text{ joke}\Rightarrow\text{ }(1)/(3)hour \\ x\text{ joke }\Rightarrow\text{ 1 hour} \\ \text{thus,} \\ x=\frac{1\text{ joke}*1\text{ hour}}{(1)/(3)hour} \\ \Rightarrow x=\text{ 3 jokes} \end{gathered}

Thus, in 1 hour she will share 3 jokes.

At the end of the last workshop session, recall that she will have spent 16 hours.

Thus, the number of jokes she'll tell at the end of the last session is evaluated by multiplying the number of hours spent on all workshops by the number of jokes she tells in every hour (1 hour).

Thus, we have

\begin{gathered} \text{Number of jokes =}number\text{ of hours spent}*\text{number of jokes told per hour} \\ \Rightarrow16hours*\frac{3jokes}{1\text{ hour}} \\ =48\text{ jokes} \end{gathered}

Hence, at the end of the last workshop, she will tell 48 jokes.
