2x-y=-2

  • y=2x+2--(1)

15x-2y=-7

  • 2y=15x+7
  • y=15/2x+7/2

Equate both and solve

  • 2x+2=15/2x+7/2
  • 2x-15/2x=7/2-2
  • 4x-15x/2=7-4/2
  • 4x-15x=3
  • -11x=3
  • x=-3/11

Put in eq(1)

  • y=1/11

Answer is None of the above

Answer:

  • See below

Explanation:

Given system:

  • 2x - y = - 2
  • 15x - 2y = - 7

Solve by elimination, multiply the first equation by - 2 and add up the equations:

  • -2(2x - y) + 15x - 2y = - 2(- 2) - 7
  • -4x + 2y + 15x - 2y = 4 - 7
  • 11x = - 3
  • x = - 3/11

Find the value of y:

  • 2( - 3/11) - y = - 2
  • -6/11 - y = - 2
  • y = 2 - 6/11
  • y = 1/11

Solution is:

  • ( - 3/11, 1/11)
  • None of the answer choices is matching this solution. Something must be wrong with the given equations.
