The area of the shape is;

90cm^2

Here, we to get the area of the shape

To do this, we will need to divide the shape into fragments

By completing the line, we have the fragments as follows;

A rectangle that measures 8 cm by 10 cm

And;

A triangle of base 4 cm and height of 5 cm

The area of the rectangle is the products of its two sides

We have this as;

8\text{ }*10=80cm^2

The area of the triangle is product of its base and height, divided by two

We have this as;

(1)/(2)*5*4=10cm^2

The area of the shape is the sum of these areas

We have this as;

80cm^2+10cm^2=90cm^2
