How did industrialism affect workers ?
Children as young as five or six were often employed in factories, working long hours for meager pay. Factories were often poorly ventilated and lit, and machinery was often unguarded, leading to frequent accidents and injuries.
Workers were often paid low wages that were barely enough to survive on, leading to widespread poverty. There were few or no laws to protect workers from exploitation and abuse.
In response to these conditions, labor movements emerged around the world, demanding better working conditions, higher wages, and shorter working hours. These movements organized strikes, boycotts, and political campaigns to pressure governments and employers to enact reforms.
