(y^5)/(y^3)* y^2

when you divide terms with the same base you must subtract the exponents to simplify

then

\begin{gathered} (y^(5-3))* y^2 \\ y^2* y^2 \end{gathered}

and when you multiply you add the exponents

\begin{gathered} y^(2+2) \\ =y^4 \end{gathered}
