How do I narrow down polynomials to a single number? Is that even something I can do??? For an assignment, we have to find out the perimeter of a rectangle, and it has equations instead of numbers. Can I make that a single number, or is the answer that equation?

a) You can find the perimeter by adding the coefficients of the terms.
b) No, you cannot narrow down polynomials to a single number.

Final answer:

For an equation in one variable, you cannot narrow down polynomials to a single number.

Step-by-step explanation:

For an equation in one variable, you cannot narrow down polynomials to a single number. The equation represents a relationship between two variables, and its solution will be a set of values, not a single number.
