Solving

2x - 6y = -12 ----------- equ1

x + 2y = 14 ................ equ 2 mutilplied by 2 = 2 x + 4 y = 28 ------equ 3

We want to use elimination method,

Equation 3 - Equation 1 ,

2x - 6y = -12 ----------- equ1

2 x + 4 y = 28 -------------equ 3

4 y - ( -6 y ) = 28 - ( - 12 )

4y + 6y = 28 + 12

10 y = 40

Divide both sides by 10

y = 40 / 10

y = 4

put y = 4 in equ 1 , we have ;

2x - 6y = -12 --- equ 1

2x - 6 (4) = - 12

2 x - 24 = -12

2x = -12 + 24

2x = 12

Divide both sides by 2, we have :

x = 6

CONCLUSION : x = 6 , y = 4
