Order of Operation?

Emily had 30 cookies to bring to school for her birthday. Three students wanted two cookies each. Then, a new student came that day and he wanted three cookies. Then, one of the three kids gave their cookies back. Emily was still passing out cookies. How many cookies did Emily have Pass out After the Student gave their Cookies Back?

30-6=24-3=21+2=23

Ok, let’s see here. Emily had a total of 30 cookies, and right off the bat 3 students wanted 2 cookies. 3 times 2 is 6, so that’s already 6 cookies taken away. 30 minus 6 is 24, so currently she has 24 cookies left. Then, one of those 3 kids gave only ONE cookie back, so we take 24, and add 1. Giving us 25. We are trying to see how many cookies Emily has passed out so far, so we take the original number, which is 30, and subtract that by our current number which is 25. Giving us 5, meaning she has passed a total of 5 cookies so far.
