The quantity of green paint needed to be mixed with 4 cups of black paint to make jasper green is 24 quarts

How much green paint should be mixed with 4 cups of black paint to make jasper green?

Convert quarts to cups

1 quarts = 4 cups

4 quarts = 16 cups

Mixture A for jasper green:

Green paint = 4 quarts = 16 cups

Black paint = 2/3 cups

Mixture B for jasper green:

Green paint = x cups

Black paint = 4 cups

Set up the proportion

16 : 2/3 = x : 4

16 ÷ 2/3 = x / 4

16 × 3/2 = x/4

48/2 = x/4

cross product

48 × 4 = 2 × x

192 = 2x

Divide both sides by 2

x = 192/2

x = 96 cups

Therefore, 96 cups converted to quarts is

96/4

= 24 quarts
