Note that we have the equations

4a+7b=11

and

-4a-6b=-10

If we add this two equations, we get

4a+7b\text{ +(-4a - 6b) = 4a-4a + 7b -6b = b = 11+(-10) = 1}

So, we get b=1.

If we replace this in the first equation, we get

4a+7\text{ = 11}

by subtracting 7 on both sides, we get

4a\text{ = 11-7 = 4}

Finally, if we divide by 4 on both sides, we get

a=(4)/(4)=1

So the solution to the equation is a=b=1
