These two paragraphs are my hook and thesis. This is the essay prompt:

'Notice and discuss the different perspectives each article uses to convey information about groups or individuals and their reactions to natural disasters. What is the similarity in the overall message in both articles? Type four paragraphs.'
Hook: With the 2020 year coming to an end, we can begin to reflect upon the obstacles we have had to face as a global community. From handling the Coronavirus pandemic to putting out the bushfires in California and Australia, there have been many instances where we have had to come together as global citizens.
Thesis: Although we have had to tackle the threats of climate change and coronavirus pandemic, we all had to come together and help reduce the amount of cases of coronavirus. By washing our hands, disinfecting our homes, and maintaining six-feet distance from each other at all times. We were able to minimize the spread of coronavirus; we can do the same for climate change by using fewer fossil fuels and start by using renewable energy in homes, minimizing the amount of plastic we use, etc.

A. Provide a conclusion that summarizes the main points of your essay.
B. Offer a counterargument to your thesis.
C. Discuss the historical context of the 2020 challenges.

Final answer:

D)The essay's hook effectively captures attention with its inclusive reflection, and the thesis sets up a socially relevant conversation by comparing responses to pandemics and climate change.

Step-by-step explanation:

To address your request regarding your essay hook and thesis for the prompt on perspectives on natural disasters, let's take a close look at each component.

The hook successfully captures the reader's attention by reflecting on the shared global challenges of 2020. This inclusive approach sets a broad stage for discussing community responses to crises such as the coronavirus pandemic and climate-related disasters.

The introduction could be improved by offering some historical context, demonstrating an understanding of how these events fit into a larger tapestry of challenges faced by humanity.

The thesis works well to present a central argument that emphasizes unity and collective action in dealing with environmental and health crises.

It previews the organization of the essay by suggesting a comparison between the response to the pandemic and potential responses to climate change. By advocating for practical solutions, the thesis sets up a socially relevant conversation.

In constructing a conclusion, first, restate the thesis using new language to remind readers of the essay's focus. Then, briefly summarize your main arguments to reinforce the main points.

Lastly, articulate the significance of your analysis, providing readers with a strong takeaway from your essay. This could connect the dots between communal efforts against COVID-19 and the climate crisis, showcasing the power of collective action.

As for the counterargument, it is essential to anticipate potential objections to your thesis. Some may argue that individual actions cannot significantly impact global issues like climate change, which requires systemic changes.

Acknowledge this perspective but reinforce the importance of individual contributions as part of a larger, coordinated effort.
