A toy, in the shape of a sphere, has a radius of 5 inches. The toy is full of water. Approximately how many cubic inches of water are in the toy?

we have that

the volume of a sphere is equal to

V=(4)/(3)\cdot\pi\cdot r^3

we have

pi=3.14

r=5 in

Convert inches to cm

1 in=2.54 cm

5 in=5*2.54=12.7 cm

substitute the given values in the formula

\begin{gathered} V=(4)/(3)\cdot3.14\cdot12.7^3 \\ V=8,575.90\text{ cm3} \end{gathered}

Multiply by 2/3

8,575.90*(2/3)=5,717 cm3

answer is 5,717 cubic centimeters
