7x - 3y = 5

3y = 7x - 5

y = 7/3 x - 5/3

The slope is 7/3 which is also the slope of the parallel line as we said above.

The parallel line has the equation y = 7/3x + b

we use the point (12,-5) to find the value of b (the y-intercept)

-5 = 7/3 * (12) + b

-5 = 28 + b

b = -33

y = 7/3x - 33
