X=-4, y=-8

Explanation:

x − 4 = 3x + 4

x - 4 - 3x = 3x - 3x + 4

-2x - 4 = 4

-2x - 4 + 4 = 4 + 4

-2x = 8

-2x/-2 = 8/-2

x = -4

then insert -4 for x then solve the equations.
