3DCrowdGo is freelance application hosted on Amazon Web Services that
combines a crowdsourcing model, much like Uber or Airbnb, with community-based 3D printing services to decentralize manufacturing processes.
Specifically, this app will be used to increase production of
simulators for Health Professions Education students so that they can practice
technical skills remotely. Thus far, we have conducted
feasibility and acceptability testing, developed a business model, and built app
wireframes. Following the modified Medical Research Council framework for development of complex clinical interventions, this project
is now in a transition stage from the theory & modelling and piloting cycles to evaluation and implementation cycles. Our main goal of this
capstone project is to focus and gain expertise on Operations
and Supply Chain Management, and what these would look like specifically for the 3DCrowdGo app. Desired outcomes at the end of this
capstone project include, but are not limited to, insight on and recommendations
for supply chain logistics, quality control measures of the
3D printed simulators, and how funds will be exchanged via the 3DCrowdGo
platform
