John is painting a box that is shaped like a cube. 1/10 of a bottle of paint covers 2/5 of the box. How many cubes can he paint with 2 bottles of paint?

1/10 bottle of paint covers 2/5 of box

2 bottles of paint will cover x of box

Using cross multiplication :

1/10 = 2 / 5

2 = x

(1 / 10)x = 2/5 * 2

x / 10 = 4 / 5

Cross multiply :

5x = 40

Divide both sides by 5

x = 40/5

x = 8

Hence, 2 bottles of paint will be used to paint 8 boxes
