The number of people in attendance is 440

How many people were there in the audience?

Let's represent the total number of people in the audience as x.

Given that 1/4 of the audience were men, then

Men = 1/4x men in the audience.

The remaining 3/4 of the audience consisted of women and children.

Also:

2/5 of this remaining audience were women.

So, we have

2/5 * (3/4)x = 132

Simplifying the equation:

(6/20)x = 132

Dividing both sides by 6/20:

x = 132 * 20/6

Evaluate

x = 440

Hence, there were 440 people in the audience.
