The three sentences with regards to the proportion of games won by the Rutgers Scarlet Knights are;

  1. The number of games won to the number of games lost is 8 to 4, which makes a proportion of 2 to 1 rather than 3 to 2
  2. A 3 to 2 proportion indicates that the Rutgers Scarlet Knights won 9 games and lost 6 games, which is incorrect as they swon 8 games and lost 4 games
  3. The ratio of the games won to the number of games lost is 2 : 1, rather than the ratio in the news media of 3 : 2

The correct ratio of the number of games won by the Rutgers Scarlet Knights are found as follows

The number of games won by the Rutgers Scarlet Knights = 8 games

The number of games they lost = 4 games

The ratio of the number of games they won to the number of games they lost is therefore; 8 : 4 = 2 : 1

Therefore, the information from the news media that they have won all their games with a 3 : 2 ratio is incorrect and the correct ratio is 2 : 1
